There is several sections of the Fraser river trail. This section goes east from Celtric avenue to the edge of the Marine drive golf course. It was also goes west to Deering Island Park and beyond to the Musqueam golf course. The most scenic part is between Balaclava street and the Marine Drive golf course. There is great views of the Fraser river and the airport. There is remains from the industrial past. The section beside the McCleery golf course and Deerng Island park is really nice.
The Fraser River Trail is Vancouver's only riverside greenway. The greenway follows as close to the north shore of the North Arm of the Fraser River as possible and, when completed, it will connect Pacific Spirit Regional Park to the City of Burnaby's trail system. To date, McCleery Golf Course, Fraser River Park, Shaughnessy Street park site, Gladstone Park and Riverfront Park waterfront walkways and bikeways are all part of this greenway. Remaining sections of the riverfront trail will be completed as opportunities arise.
The most recent addition is the 350-metre Hudson Street portion of the Fraser River Trail, which was completed in 2010 and beautified with various trees and shrubs, making it a more people-friendly waterfront and a lovely place to watch the airplanes and the 'working' river. Partners include TransLink, which granted the land to the City of Vancouver for the trail and funded its construction along the river for the length of their site; the City of Vancouver's Engineering Department which secured the trail and oversaw construction; and the Vancouver Park Board which helped design and build the trail and will maintain it. You can walk from Hudson to Bentley street. A small section near Bentley is on private property but someone broke a hole in the fence so you can walk through now. Park on Hudson street beside the bus garage.
Douglas Park offers ample open fields, community center, and playground area, all popular destinations. The main tree-lined promenade is a pleasant place to sit and take in views of the entire park. The pear tree is wonderful. New playground was built.
